Man charged after woman tells Excelsior Springs police she’s been kidnapped, sexually assaulted – suspect in custody

A man was charged after a woman reported to Excelsior Springs police that she had been abducted, held against her will, and sexually assaulted. Police said suspect Timothy Haslett Jr. was charged with rape by the Clay County Attorney’s Office. “It’s a scary world raising my daughter,” said Alyssa Meredith. “Especially being in my hometown.” The crime scene just below Meredith’s house is unlike anything she’s seen before. “There has never been so much activity in Excelsior,” she said. For hours, Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy of Excelsior Springs police, neighbors sat and watched as detectives pulled out evidence bags from the house on the corner of Old Orchard Avenue. “This will be an investigation that will take several days,” he said. She ran away from home screaming on Friday morning. “It was easy to see that he was held against his will for a considerable time,” Dowdy said. The woman told the police that she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Dowdy also said there were more victims. “This is ongoing, we keep finding more,” he said. A cadaver dog also searched the property. Video from NewsChopper 9 showed detectives scanning the evidence on the side of the house. “No details have been released as to what investigators may have found,” Dowdy said. It was learned that the condition of the woman who was taken to the hospital was stable.

“It’s a horrible world raising my daughter in it,” said Alyssa Meredith. “Especially being in my hometown.”

The crime scene just below Meredith’s house is unlike anything she’s ever seen before.

“There has never been so much activity in Excelsior,” he said.

The neighbors sat for hours watching detectives pull out evidence bags from the house on the corner of Old Orchard Avenue.

“This will be an investigation that will take several days,” said Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy of Excelsior Springs police.

Police said a woman ran from the house screaming on Friday morning.

“It was readily apparent that he was held against his will for a significant period of time,” Dowdy said. Said.

The woman told the police that she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. She also said there are more victims.
